Seeing patients Monday-Thursday 4 pm-11 pm
Open to all patients!
Compassionate care for life’s unexpected moments!
We offer same-day and after-hours urgent care for pets with non-emergent illnesses and injuries. Our team of emergency and critical care trained veterinary professionals are dedicated to compassionate, quality care in a family centered environment.
We welcome patients of other general practices and will take care of forwarding your pet’s medical records back to your primary veterinarian to ensure seamless continued care. When necessary, we can also help with referrals for specialty care or hospitalization.
Meet the Team

Dr. Sam Hollister
Dr. Sam Hollister may be a familiar face if you’ve been a part of the Novey family for a while! Dr. Hollister originally joined the Novey team in 2010. He attended veterinary school at the University of Florida, graduating in 2021. After completing a yearlong rotating internship in Arizona, Dr. Hollister completed 18 months of additional emergency and critical care training in both private and academic hospitals in Washington State and Idaho. He has returned home to Tallahassee to head up our Urgent Care Service and will occasionally be seeing patients in General Practice as well. Dr. Hollister spends his free time with his dog, Tova, and his cats Gymmy (a Novey adoption!) and Marshall. He enjoys reading, cooking, music, hiking and camping.

Low Fear/Stress Free Handling Philosophy:
Reducing the fear associated with veterinary visits is extremely important to us. We know and understand that many of our patients do not find joy in coming to the veterinarian. Elevated stress hormones can have repercussions and impacts on the comfort of future visits, the ability for our doctors to perform a complete physical examination, and bloodwork and diagnostic test results. We use gentle handling, lots of food treats and praise, and anti-anxiety medications to help our patients overcome the panic often experienced at the veterinary hospital. Your visit may take a bit longer when we employ these tools, but we feel it is our obligation to your pet to minimize the fear and anxiety associated with their visit.
Feline Specific Care:
At our hospital, we understand that cats have unique needs and sensitivities, which is why we provide feline-specific care designed to keep them comfortable and stress-free. Using gentle handling techniques and with a deeper understanding of feline behavior and disease, our team tailors each visit to your cat’s individual personality and health needs. We focus on minimizing anxiety while delivering thorough, compassionate medical care—because a calm cat allows for a more accurate exam and a better overall experience for both you and your pet. Our doctors invest in regular continuing education to ensure a modern and up-to-date medical knowledge and care.
